How To Check And Calculate Post UTME Screening Score For 2016/17

One basic information every potential candidate looking to gain admission into various tertiary institutions would be looking forward to knowing, is knowing how to calculate their Post UTME screening score since the federal government of Nigeria directed NUC (Nigerian University Commission) to scrap the use of post-UTME as a prerequisite for gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Where NUC gave the directive to all tertiary institutions, they saw this as a bluff and most of the institutions went ahead with the sale of post UTME forms to candidates, until NUC placed a consequences on any university, polytechnics, or colleges of education that goes ahead to flout the rules, then the institutions had to refund money collected from candidates.

Number of sittings for O’Level
1) One Sitting = 10 marks
2) Two Sittings = 3marks
Total marks obtainable = 10marks

O’Level Result Grading from 5 subjects
A (A1) = 6marks
B (B2, B3) = 4marks
C (C4, C5, C6) = 3marks
Total marks obtainable = 30marks

JAMB UTME Score Grades

Total marks obtainable = 60marks

From the calculation above, you can deduce from it that your O’Level takes a whopping 40% of the total score needed to secure your admission into the university, polytechnic or college of education, so the better your grades, the more likely your chances of gaining admission. The balance 60% comes from what you score in JAMB.
