Fury And Klitschko Rematch Date Set

The world heavyweight title rematch between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko has been set for the 29th of October.

The 28-year-old British boxer won the WBO, WBA and IBF belts from the 40-year-old Ukrainian. However, he pulled out of a July rematch with an ankle injury.

The fight is at Manchester Arena.

“I’m delighted that we can finally get the fight back on. We can now focus on giving the fans what they deserve,” said Fury’s manager and uncle Peter.

Klitschko was undefeated for 11 years and had held the belts since 2006 before losing to the Brit in Dusseldorf on a unanimous points decision.

He tweeted: “Finally the rematch is fixed. I’ll remedy my mistake on 29 October at Manchester Arena. See you there.”

Manchester fighter Fury is unbeaten in 25 professional bouts, with 18 knock-outs, while Klitschko is 64-4, with 54 knock-outs.

The undefeated heavyweight champion had originally held three of the world belts, but his IBF title was stripped from him soon after he won it when he failed to face his mandatory challenger.

British heavyweight Anthony Joshua is the current holder.

Pliskova’s performance belied her experience. She was playing in her first Grand Slam semifinal, while it was Williams’ 33rd.

“I had a goal today, to beat Serena,” Pliskova said in her on-court interview. “And that’s what I did.

“I don’t believe it. Actually, I do believe it. I knew I could beat anyone if I’m playing my game.”

The No. 1 ranking, which Serena has held for 186 consecutive weeks, will now go to Angelique Kerber when the new rankings are released Monday.

Dortmund Fans To Protest RB Leipzig By Sitting At Home

A section of Dortmund fans will not be attending their club’s away game to RB Leipzig, in protest of the sponsor of the club by Red Bull.

The club is being sponsored by the energy drinking company and have risen to the Bundesliga from the fifth division since its founding in 2009.

Critics, however, labelled them a marketing vehicle for their parent company and the Sudtribune Dortmund fans’ website has announced that they will instead watch their reserve team on Saturday before listening to the match on the radio.

“The construct of the newly promoted side from Leipzig stands against everything that we associate with football,” the statement reads.

“It is scandalous that a purely commercial marketing branch of an Austrian drinks manufacturer may actually compete in Germany’s top flight. This contradicts all sporting and emotional values.

“For us, the consequence is clear: We do not buy tickets and do not travel to BVB’s away game in Leipzig.”

Other Dortmund fans will attend the match, however, and Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick says the hosts could have sold “more than double” the amount of tickets that were available.

“We don’t boycott the match,” Nicolai Maeurer, a spokesperson for fan group Profans Dortmund, told ESPN. “A broad mixture of fans decided they don’t want to go there.

“With the successor club of SSV Makranstadt [Leipzig], a line was crossed and you don’t have to follow that path if you don’t want to.”

Real Madrid And Atletico To Serve Transfer Bans

Real and Atletico Madrid will be unable to sign players for the next two transfer windows after their appeal against the FIFA transfer ban was rejected.

Fifa accuses both clubs of violating the rules relating to the protection and transfer of minors.

After initially being handed the punishment in January, the bans were temporarily delayed pending appeal but they will now suffer the same fate as Barcelona, who were found guilty of similar offences in 2014.

“The FIFA Appeal Committee has decided to reject the appeals lodged by Spanish clubs Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid and to confirm in their entirety the decisions rendered by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the respective cases relating to the protection of minors,” a FIFA statement reads.

“Both clubs are to serve a transfer ban that prevents them from registering any players at national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods for breaching articles 5, 9, 19 and 19bis as well as annexes 2 and 3 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (the "Regulations").

“The transfer ban applies to each club as a whole – with the exception of the women's, futsal and beach soccer teams – and does not prevent the release of players.

“Additionally, Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid have been fined CHF 900,000 and CHF 360,000 respectively, while both clubs have been issued with a reprimand and a warning and given 90 days in which to regularise the situation of all minor players concerned.

“The grounds of the decisions taken by the FIFA Appeal Committee were communicated to the parties concerned today.”

In a statement released immediately after FIFA had announced its decision, Real Madrid described the verdict as “profoundly unfair” and confirmed their intention to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Man Bags 6-Month Jail Term For Stealing N214,000 From Church’s Coffer

Elochukwu Nnoruga, 28, has been sentenced to six months in jail for stealing N214, 000 – tithe belonging to St Patrick Catholic Church, Idumaigbo, Lagos.

"It is a pity that people do not see the house of God as sacred anymore.

"This judgment should serve as a lesson to the public, if you choose crime instead of hard work, the hand of the law will always catch up with you.

"Nnoruga, you are hereby sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine," he declared.

Mr Ben Ekundayo, the prosecutor, had told the court that the convict committed the offence on Aug. 14, at about 2 p.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Idumaigbo, Lagos.

Ekundayo said that the convict stole N214, 000 from the tithe box after Church service.

He said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The dress Marilyn Monroe wore while singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy will be auctioned to the highest bidder in November.

Monroe wore the nude dress with 2,500 hand stitched crystals on May 19, 1962 during a Democratic fundraiser that served as an early 45th birthday celebration for the President. She wore nothing beneath the dress and had to be sewn into it.

In front of about 15,000 guests, Monroe took the stage. She sang ‘Happy Birthday, Mr President‘ at the Madison Square Garden. The sexy performance was coupled with the fact that the then first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy was absent at the fundraiser. This ignited rumors that Marilyn Monroe and the President were having an affair.

According to Darren Julien, President and Chief Executive of Julien’s Auctions, the Auction House holding the sale, the dress is expected to sell for at least $2 million. The auction will also hold on the 17th of November.
