| Shooting Stars Defender Izu Joseph Killed By Joint Task Force Posted: 17 Oct 2016 11:06 PM PDT The Nigerian Premier League is in mourning after one of its players, Izu Joseph, was shot to death. Joseph, who played for the Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, was killed by a stray bullet from a member of the Joint Task Force. The incident occurred in Izu’s hometown, Okaki in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State on Sunday. “I am sorely distraught with what has happened,” Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick said. “It is a most unfortunate incident that has brought sorrow to the Nigeria football family, barely a week after we were celebrating victory in a World Cup qualifying match.” “What has happened is most painful. I want to appeal to our football players to always be mindful of the company they keep and the places they go at all times, because they are special asset. At the end of the day, each and every one of us will die, but we don’t want to be losing football players in the manner in which Izu Joseph has died.”

The Ligue 1 club will travel to Russia, to play CSKA Moscow, who are currently bottom of Group E. However, this does not put Jardim under the illusion, that he has a better team. | BBOG Disowns Fund-Raising By President Buhari’s Daughter Posted: 17 Oct 2016 10:41 PM PDT The #BringBackOurGirls group has today disowned a fund-raising organised in its name by Hadiza Buhari, daughter of President Buhari and a group, the Peace Corps of Nigeria in Abuja. A non-governmental organisation, run by Hadiza by the name, Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the 'Chibok Girls Endowment Project' with the the Peace Corps during which N3m was said to have been raised for the Chibok schoolgirls. A statement released by the BBOG co-coordinators, Oby Ezekwesili and Aisha Yusuf, said it was not a party to the alleged fund-raising, adding that it was shocked and perplexed by the use of its name at the event. The statement read “Following repeated enquiries from the media, we stumbled upon information of an event tagged "Official Inauguration and Signing of Memorandum of Understanding on the Chibok Girls Endowment Project" organised by the "Peace Corps of Nigeria" and "Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative", with Hadiza Buhari-Bello. We are shocked, perplexed and completely dumbfounded to see the bold inscription of our hard-earned name, #BringBackOurGirls, on the event's backdrop.” “We state categorically that we are not party to the said event and have absolutely no information of its origin. We urge the general public to disregard attempts at linking our movement to this highly suspicious event. Together with our lawyers, Femi Falana & Co., we are considering a response to this attempt to smear our movement. We call on the general public and law enforcement agencies to be on the look-out for unscrupulous persons who may already be/are planning similar nefarious acts to deceive the local and international community." The group said it was a citizens' movement and not a non-governmental organisation, hence the decision to fund its activities by sacrificial contributions of members. | 14 Fulani Herdsmen Slaughtered In Kaduna Posted: 17 Oct 2016 03:15 PM PDT At least 14 Fulani herdsmen have been attacked, hacked and burnt to death by an irate mob on Monday in Kaduna state.
A source who witnessed the incident revealed that fourteen people were "hacked and burnt" to death over the weekend.
Aliyu, whose vehicle felt the massacre, told the agency that his bus had broken down in Kaduna state, so he left it to go search for a mechanic.
The commercial driver further stated that the incident led to a riot, adding that "When the situation calmed I returned to my vehicle and found its burnt carcass with charred remains of the passengers."
In agreement with the commercial driver, Jema'a local government chairman Bege Katuka said the area was thrown into chaos with "indiscriminate" shooting a night before.

Fayose Intervenes As EFCC Detains Fani-Kayode’s Wife and Baby Posted: 17 Oct 2016 02:46 PM PDT Mrs. Precious Fani-Kayode, the wife of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday evening in Ado Ekiti.  Mrs. Fani-Kayode, who was in Ado-Ekiti as a guest of Governor Ayodele Fayose, had gone to Access Bank branch in Ado Ekiti around 3pm for transactions when she was detained by officials of the bank acting on the orders of the EFCC. It was gathered that she sensed something strange was going on when she was not being promptly attended to. Upon inquiry from an official, she was told she was being detained on the instruction of the premier anti graft agency. It then dawn on the nursing mother, who had come to the banking hall with her eight month old baby that she had to call for help. The timely intervention of Governor Fayose secured her release as the state executive of Ekiti state stormed the bank with some of his supporters around 7 pm. After the incident, Mrs. Fani-Kayode told pressmen that she was badly treated by the officials while her baby was denied food.

| Man Asks Court To Dissolve His Marriage Because His Wife Cheats On Their Matrimonial Bed Posted: 17 Oct 2016 11:42 AM PDT Kingsley Agina, a businessman, approached an Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Monday to help dissolve his 10-year-old marriage to his wife, Obianju. Kingsley accused his wife of bringing men to their matrimonial bed for sex. The 49-year-old father of four also added that he believed his wife poisons his food. "My wife is promiscuous; she used to bring men into my house to sleep with them, whenever I travel abroad for business.” He said. "There was a day I came back from my business trip, I discovered that my glass center table was broken. I asked my daughter who broke it, she told me that it was one uncle her mother brought home that broke it.” "There was also a day I discovered that my bed was shaking, I called a carpenter to come and repair it. But when we lifted the bed up, we saw several used tissue paper under the bed." He added. Mr Agina alleged that his wife occasionally took money from his account with his ATM card to give to her boyfriends. "Since year 2008, I have noticed that my food was being laced with poison, which has resulted to my deteriorating health; I could not sleep nor walk. I have spent about N5 million on medical treatment, but I never get well in fact my health is getting worst. My mother-in-law is a native doctor, she has a shrine; she has been the one giving her daughter poison to kill me so that they can inherit my property.” He told the court. Kingsley begged the court to dissolve the marriage on the ground of lack of love. However, Obianju, 35, denied all the allegations saying her husband was the promiscuous one. "My husband brings home different girls of different sizes and colours. I once saw condom in his bag so I went to buy him a packet of condom and gave him. He queried me on my action and I told him that he needs it, so that he will not contact any disease to infect me. I have been faithful to our marital vow; I have never had sex with any other man. My husband married me a virgin at the age of 25." The mother of four also said that she never poisoned her husband. "How will I poison the father of my children, what do I stand to gain, my hands are clean, I don't know how poison got into his body.". On the matter of the money she withdrew from his account, she told the court the N100,000 was for the upkeep of the house. She made a pleaded to the court against dissolving the marriage saying she still loved her husband. The court president, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, after listening to the couple adjourned the case to Dec. 6 for judgment. | Chilli-Eating Competition Leaves Man With Hole In His Oesophagus Posted: 17 Oct 2016 11:33 AM PDT An American man has ended up with an inch-wide hole in his oesophagus after eating the notoriously hot 'ghost pepper' during a chilli eating contest. The unnamed man ate a hamburger laced with ghost pepper puree and began vomiting and retching violently before being rushed to the hospital. When he was admitted to the hospital, doctors found the hole in his oesophagus, and he underwent emergency surgery and remained in the hospital for 23 days. The rupture in his oesophagus is known as 'Boerhaave syndrome' and it was caused by the excessive retching or vomiting. It carries a high mortality rate and is named after the 18th-century physician whose patient died after vomiting up a gluttonous lunch.  The ghost pepper, or bhut jolokia, is a favorite among chilli lovers and competitive eaters and was considered the world's hottest chilli until 2013 when it was surpassed by the Carolina Reaper pepper. | Man Who Shot At George Zimmerman Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison Posted: 17 Oct 2016 11:05 AM PDT The man who shot at George Zimmerman’s car during a road rage incident in May last year has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. The 38-year-old Matthew Apeperson was charged with attempted second degree murder, armed aggravated assault and shooting into a vehicle. The incident occured in Lake Mary, Florida on May 11 2015. Zimmerman testified that Apperson followed him, flashing his lights and honking his horn, he then pulled up beside Zimmerman and shot at him. He said that even though the bullet missed, he was cut by glass from a shattered window. However, Apperson gave a different account, saying he acted in self-defense and that Zimmerman had threatened to kill him. Before the judge handed down the sentence, Apperson’s wife, Lisa Apperson, asked the judge to throw out the charges as according to her, that local authorities had “given George Zimmerman a golden ticket to go out and do whatever he wants to do.”  Ironically, George Zimmerman was acquitted of a second degree murder charge in 2013 after an incident in 2012 where he shot and killed unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. The case prompted national debates about the use of firearms for self-defense, as well as race issues. Defense attorney Michael LaFay asked the Judge to free Apperson, a paralegal, while he filed an appeal but she refused citing the fact that Apperson fired a gun at someone in a moving vehicle on a busy Lake Mary Boulevard. The Wu-Tang clan member RZA brought along a date, young controversial rapper Azealia Banks. The plan was for Russell and his few friends to hang, eat good food and listen to good music. Sadly that didn’t go to plan. According to TMZ ; “Eyewitness accounts the trouble started when Azealia laughed out loud at Russell's music selection, and then called him and at least one other guest, "boring white men." We're told a female guest jumped to Russell's defense and suggested Banks pipe down. Instead, we're told she made an insane speech/threat to Crowe and the woman …"You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino s***." Then for good measure, witnesses say she dropped a few n-bombs … yet Crowe remained surprisingly calm” Azealia then attempted to throw her glass, that was when she was grabbed by Crowe who carried her out of the suite. He called hotel security guards who proceeded to remove Azealia from the grounds. However, Banks went on Facebook and narrated a totally different story which has been deleted now saying "I went to a party at Russell Crowe's suite, at which he called me a n****r, choked me, threw me out and spat at me. Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I’ve had in along time. The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today." In another post, also deleted, she wrote: "I wish I had someone to beat him up for me."

He started at 9am on Wednesday, October 12 and ended at 11am on Thursday, October 13.  Taking only 5-minute breaks once every hour, the rapper performed his songs as well as hundreds of classic rap songs from other artistes like Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, E-40, Xzibit, Too $hort and Ice Cube e.t.c.
