Also at the parallel market, the naira gained a point against the dollar, exchanging at N475 from N476 posted on Tuesday, while it closed against the Pound Sterling and the Euro at N590 and N510, respectively.

At the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment of the market, the naira traded at N354 against the dollar, and at N580 to the Pound Sterling and N510 to the Euro.

Traders at the market said that the sale of foreign exchange to BDCs was already easing the liquidity challenges at the market.

NAN reports that since the resumption of the sale of the currencies to BDCs was restored, the naira had been on a steady path to recovery.

Economic analysts also believe that if the new arrangement continued, the Nigerian currency would regain its lost glory.

Tyson Fury Admits To Using Cocaine | Says, 'I Just Don't Want To Live Any More'

The undefeated British boxer is in danger of losing his titles after reportedly testing positive to cocaine.

Fury’s public statements have become increasingly erratic, with the boxer announcing his retirement on Twitter, but reversing his decision later on.

Anthony Joshua Sure He Can Beat Klitschko

Joshua is set to take on Klitschko in a possible unification bout.

Joshua, said: “I am sure we will see Tyson Fury back in the ring again.

“Tyson is a fighting man, a real talent and he is good for boxing in his own way. I really hope to see him getting back to what he does best.

“It’s too easy to point the finger because none of us really know what he is going through. What I do know is he is a fighter and all fighters eventually come back.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated there is a good chance Joshua could face Klitschko before the end of the year – and Joshua insists he would leap at the chance to take on the former champion.

Tyson Fury Tests Positive For Cocaine

Joshua added: “A year ago I knew I needed more time before I fought a guy like Klitschko but a year has passed and I’m more mature and comfortable with it.

“I feel like this path was laid out for me. I’ve come up and won the belt and with Tyson also winning the belts it opened up the division and has given me the opportunity.

“It’s all about creating the legacy and it’s both an opportunity for me to win another belt and for Klitschko to win his back. It’s the fight everyone wants to see.”

Arsenal recently sent scouts to watch Porto striker Andre Silva, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

The Gunners reportedly travelled to the King Power to view Silva in action during Porto's 1-0 Champions League defeat to Leicester.

Silva, 20, has been in good form to start the season, having scored five goals in seven league appearances.

Silva signed a five-year contract extension in the summer, which ESPN say included a €60million (£52.8m) release clause.

Napoli President Confirms Chelsea Made £58 Million Bid For Kalidou Koulibaly

Posted: 05 Oct 2016 08:23 PM PDT

Napoli rejected a Chelsea offer of £58m for Kalidou Koulibaly at the end of the summer transfer window, according to their chairman.

Kalidou Koulibaly was the subject of multiple bids from Chelsea this summer, according to Napoli’s chairman

“They offered to me £30, 35, 40, 45, 50 [million],” De Laurentiis told Sky Sports News HQ. “Mr Conte I said, ‘Marina [Granovskaia, Chelsea director] is behind me, follow me’, I offered him that. Last moment, two days before the closing of the market, I hear £58 [million] – something like that.”

Koulibaly eventually signed a new contract with Napoli that ties him to the Serie A club until 2021 but, according to De Laurentiis, that does not guarantee he will not be sold.

“Koulibaly I need here to make the match,” De Laurentiis said. “I need to play, so I need the players. Koulibaly, this year, will remain here. Next year we will speak about.”

Asked to confirm if Chelsea made a £58m offer, De Laurentiis said: “Yes. He will never say it is true because I know Antonio. Ciao Antonio.”

The governor said no fewer than 6,000 beneficiaries had their accounts credited with the money on Wednesday, Oct. 5, the kick-off date.

PhD Truck Drivers And The Urgency Of Now

Posted: 05 Oct 2016 02:51 PM PDT

PhD Truck Drivers And The Urgency Of Now, By Okey Ndibe

Last week was a rather sobering one for Nigeria. The country marked its 56th anniversary, an altogether dour affair. Margaret Emefiele, wife of Nigeria's Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, was kidnapped and then rescued. President Muhammadu Buhari spoke to the Nigerian youth and served notice that he intends to continue blaming his predecessors—especially the immediate past one—for the country's dismal situation. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo gave his own speech, again to the youth, and advocated an end to the blame game. Mr. Buhari gave another speech, on October 1, Nigeria's Independence Day, and couldn't seem to decide whether to blow hot or cold on the militancy in the Niger Delta.

This piece was written by Okey Ndibe. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.

Let's begin with the Independence anniversary. In his national broadcast, President Buhari said, "Today, 1st October is a day of celebration for us Nigerians. On this day, 56 years ago our people achieved the most important of all human desires—freedom and independence. We should all therefore give thanks and pray for our founding fathers without whose efforts and toil we would not reap the bounties of today."

On social media, many Nigerians, myself included, had a grimmer take. We would not use the word "celebrate," viewing it as a stretch. On Facebook and Twitter, I wondered, "What does one say about a 56-year old bumbler?" Then, dredging up hope, I urged all Nigerians to "work harder to steady our doddering giant of a country!"

One or two commentators voiced a stubborn hope, but the majority could muster no glimmer of such sentiment. One wrote a terse comment: "Keep hope alive…The prayer of losers!" Another described Nigeria as "a designed failure," adding the country was bound to fail "no matter the amount of hard work it receives." There was even the cringe-worthy suggestion that we should beg the British to return and "rule us"!

Whatever side of the divide one occupies, there's little question that Nigeria has for fifty-six years been a dispiriting experiment. The late novelist Chinua Achebe wrote famously that Nigeria developed a tragic knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It's as if the country were trapped—to borrow the words of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka—in "the recurrent cycle of human stupidity."

It used to be fashionable to blame the British for Nigeria's omnibus travails. For sure, the British have much to account for in the way they cobbled together more than four hundred different ethnicities into a geopolitical collectivity. The deft hand of British colonial policy, dividing the "natives" in order to rule them, left a legacy that continues to plague Nigeria even till today.

Even so, I believe even the most irreverent anti-colonial polemicists now recognise how tiresome it is to persist in blaming the English for Nigeria's every ache and pain. In the close to six decades since we achieved "Independence," Nigerians have failed to define the terms of their engagement. We fought a brutal war in which at least two million people perished—in order to maintain the sanctity of the British-fangled country. Yet, those lives were wasted in vain, for we have yet to take seriously the task of inspiriting the Nigerian space with meaning and values. We have, so far, postponed if not altogether ignored the task of deciding what it means, at bottom, to be a Nigerian citizen.

That's why President Buhari's speech last Saturday—like his predecessors'—was a harvest of platitudes, bereft of passion and an animating vision. On the rise of Niger Delta militancy, Mr. Buhari asked, "What sense is there to damage a gas line as a result of which many towns in the country including their own town or village is put in darkness as a result? What logic is there in blowing up an export pipeline and as a result income to your state and local governments and consequently their ability to provide services to your own people is reduced?"

On one level, such seemingly self-destructive action would seem absurd. However, the absurdity begins to make perfect sense in the context of Nigeria's historical experience, marked by mindlessly predatory behaviour by the country's elite. There is no question that the militants' actions, consisting in blowing up oil facilities, are criminal. Yet, the perpetrators of those criminal deeds ought to be seen for who they are: victims of a deeper, Nigeria-made injustice. That injustice consists in the parasitical greed of the Nigerian elite—yes, some of them from the oil-rich Niger Delta. Over several decades, these unproductive leeches stole and hoarded the country's assets. In a fashion reminiscent of the behaviour of some characters in Obinkaram Echewa's absurdist yarn, "How Tables Came To Umu Madu," Nigeria's contemptible elite made a sport of eating for others. You could actually say their voracious gluttony amounted to eating others.

If Mr. Buhari is truly bewildered that militants should blow up oil infrastructure in their neighbourhood, thereby abetting the impoverishment of their own region, then I suggest that the president lives in a bubble, disconnected from the grim realities of life in the Niger Delta and much of the country. Nigeria has, unwittingly, consecrated an ethos where state violence (the violence deployed by the privileged few) has begotten mutations of resistant violence. In fact, by instituting violence as its preferred currency of communication, the Nigerian state has encouraged oppressed groups to conclude that their mastery of the idiom of violence offers them the best odds of wresting any concessions from their country.

Even when the country's earnings from oil exports were robust, the vast majority of Nigerians hardly saw any bump in their fortunes. If they wished to eat well, they often had to angle for a political appointment. Or they registered tithe-harvesting churches. Or—if they had the nerve—they took to armed robbery or the even more lucrative business of kidnapping people for ransom. Imagine the chilling effect on potential local and foreign investors of last week's kidnap of Mrs. Emefiele—despite her complement of police escorts.

I have relatives who graduated from university more than a decade ago, and yet have found no steady employment. They are reduced to the indignity of eking out a living as stylish mendicants. Last week, former President Obasanjo told students at Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta, that unemployment in Nigeria was "a time bomb." To illustrate the depth of the crisis, he shared an anecdote from Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote. When Mr. Dangote's firm advertised a position for truck drivers, there were six Nigerian PhD holders in the pool of applicants!

One hopes President Buhari comprehends the explosive consequences of that kind of situation. Nigeria is a breeding ground for citizens so dehumanised, so ground to the dust that they would not hesitate to blow things up if they had the means. These seething would-be militants are the victims of a country whose elite, for close to sixty years, has recognised no boundaries when it came to embezzlement of public funds.

Mr. Buhari continues to invoke his personal virtues, his ascetic mindset, and his commitment to change. And he continues to blame his predecessors. But those attributes—self-assessment, rhetoric and the blame game—won't suffice to address Nigeria's gargantuan crises. Does he have it in him to outline a bold vision for Nigeria's new direction? Does he realise that he's steering a floundering ship, headed for the rocks—unless he finds a way to enlist every hand to be on deck, to use that hackneyed but useful cliché.

Los Angeles-based fashion retailer Junk Food Clothing is releasing a clothing collection by Wiz Khalifa and his 3-year-old son Sebastian.

The clothing line would be called BASH, after Sebastian’s nickname and it is a variety of shirts, sweatshirts, a bomber jacket, and accessories. Wiz said that the collection was a natural extension of his and his son’s shared sense of style.

I shop with him a lot, and we match often,” Khalifa explained. “He’s definitely got my sense of style. Everybody tells me how fresh he usually looks, from store-bought stuff, so we’re making his own stuff now.”

The clothes will be inspired by Sebastian’s favorite activities according to Khalifa. “I just really wanted it to feel personal to him, so when he sees it, he gets excited. He’s three years old, so he might not understand the concept of having his own clothing line. But the fact that all of his favorite things are all over his clothes, it makes him feel special; it makes him entertained by what he's wearing.”

The clothes would go for between $35 to $50 for kids and $45 to $80 for men, with the exception of the slightly pricier bomber that will be going for $150 and $250, respectively. The BASH By Junk Food capsule collection will launch October 15.

Drake Postpones Summer Sixteen Tour Over Ankle Injury

Posted: 05 Oct 2016 02:11 PM PDT

An ankle injury has forced Drake to push back three stops on his ongoing Summer Sixteen tour.

He made the decision so as to allow his ankle heal, and revealed the decision on his OVO blog on Wednesday.

"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night. I hate to be told I can't do something, but under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support," he wrote.

Anthony Joshua Sure He Can Beat Klitschko

Posted: 05 Oct 2016 01:50 PM PDT

Anthony Joshua is sure of a world title fight against Wladmir Klitschko, and is confident the fight will happen.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is looking to set up the fight between the IBF heavyweight champion and Klitschko.

Joshua won the title against Charles Martin in April and defended it successfully against Breazeale, but admits a fight with the Ukraine boxer will be on a different plane.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: “It would be amazing for boxing in general, for British boxing, for the people that have wanted to see a general step up in class.

“It’s an interesting fight. It’s definitely one people have got interested in just by mentioning it. It ticks all the boxes for me at this present time. I think there’s a few fights the world of boxing wants.

“A heavyweight fight with a former champion and a current champion is a fight that definitely ticks that box that will get people’s hairs off their skin.

“There’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. We’re dealing with a legendary sportsman in Klitschko and a current champion so there’s egos on the table.

“We’ve got to put that aside and hopefully we can definitely get this deal done. Eddie does a good job and he’s a fantastic promoter.

“I’ve got to look at my team, my team are guiding me and they’ve got to be happy with everything as well.

“I’m confident Eddie’s sending over the right messages and getting the right things in place for this fight to take place.”

Joshua, 26, added: “I’m hoping for November because it has been mentioned. There’s been people booking hotels and changing schedules around.

“If it means that we push it back another two weeks to December, it’s no problem with me because the fight will come, the fight will go. As long as the fight happens, it will be one I’ll be happy about.

“You have to do a lot of learning in the gym, of course, but when I fight someone like Klitschko, I have to make sure everything I’ve learned over the years comes into play.
